DR. LEWIS OBI LECTURES AT BOCA AND ATTENDS STEM CELL WORKSHOP IN RANCHO MIRAGE
On April 27 and 28, Dr. Lewis Obi addressed an audience of approximately 200 participants at the annual Palomar Medical symposium and workshop in Boca Raton. Dr. Obi shared the podium with Mark Berman, the co-founder of the California Stem Cell Treatment Center. They both discussed the use and applications of homologous fat processed into stem cell rich stromal vascular fraction (SVF). Dr. Obi was the first plastic surgeon with a FDA approved Adivive processor whereas Dr. Berman obtained a prototype system directly from South Korea. Dr. Berman advanced into the therapeutic and regenerative realm by digesting and incubating the Adivive processed fat into a clear concentrate of SVF that may be injected into joints, other tissues and also intravenously to treat a wide host of diseases.
Last Thursday, Dr. Lewis Obi traveled to Palm Springs and attended a workshop hosted by Dr. Berman and his co-founding partner Dr. Elliot Lander. This two day event was very informative covering every aspect of stem cell regenerative and curative medicine. Almost every medical specialty was represented with two live demonstrations consisting of processing adult fat into a clear SVF supernatant rich in stem cells. An Investigational Research Board (IRB) was established by the California Stem Cell Center in order to provide compliance with regulatory agencies. The Obi Plastic Surgery Clinic is into the third year with the use of Adivive and PRP for both cosmetic and reconstructive uses. Dr. Obi has lectured internationally and presented multiple papers as well as a textbook chapter during this period of time.
