THE FLORIDA TIMES-UNION HEADLINE STORY TODAY

“Mayo joins S. Korean firm for ALS study”

Todayʼs headline story in the Florida Times-Union is a very familiar story to Dr. Lewis Obi. Palomar Medical Technology Inc. has been collaborating with South Korean Plastic Surgeon Dr. He Young Lee since last year. Dr. Lee, MD, PhD heads up MediKahn which is based in Seoul, Korea. After meeting with Dr. Lee last year, Dr. Lewis Obi was provided with the first FDA Fat Processing Unit in January. The Adivive™ (Lipokit) system was developed to concentrate stem cells derived from adult fat. Dr. Obi was questioned at the Obi Plastic Surgery Clinic today regarding today's TU article and he stated “It makes sense to look to Asia for leading research not only in the area of Stem Cell science but also into biopharmaceuticals as The Mayo Clinicʼs research team here in Jacksonville is doing. During the past year we have been extremely interactive with scientific developments not only in South Korea but in Japan, Europe and the U.S.”
