Because of our weakened economy and diminishing insurance reimbursements, our practice writes off more than 50% of insurance charges filed for reconstructive plastic surgery procedures. The Samuel Wells Surgicenter and Dr. Lewis Obi is still one of the few private health care providers that accepts Medicare as well as other insurance providers who fail to provide reimbursements that cover our basic costs. This is only possible because of Dr. Obi’s successful practice that performs many innovative new procedures that have both aesthetic and reconstructive applications. In spite of the economic downturn, Dr. Lewis Obi’s practice has thrived and we are happy to report no downsizing of our staff.
