EXERCISING IS SYNERGISTIC WITH SLIMLIPO

According to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and Rueters, a new study has revealed the importance of exercise following SlimLipo or other Liposuction procedures. The Brazilian study followed 36 women over a four month period after a liposuction procedure. According to the study, all of the women still had flat bellies, but the ones that did not exercise had an increase of visceral (abdominal cavity) fat. Fat does not automatically accumulate elsewhere after liposuction but if weight gain occurs due to poor life style habits, the fat tends to accumulate in other or deeper locations.

Visceral fat is the fat that "exists deep within the abdominal cavity. It has been linked to metabolic disturbances and an increased risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. In women, it is also associated with breast cancer and the need for gallbladder surgery," according to ASAPS. What is significantly different about SlimLipo versus other techniques of liposuction is that skin tightening continues for up to 12 months. Therefore, loss of visceral fat through weight loss is synergistic with SlimLipo. However, weight loss after traditional liposuction or a “tummy tuck” may result in looser skin.

 Because of this prolonged skin tightening phenomenon after SlimLipo,Dr. Lewis Obi always recommends that a healthy diet and exercise routine be followed within one week after his technique of Laser Lipolysis.

On November 13th Dr. Lewis Obi will be one of the featured speakers at the Palomar Advanced Symposium featuring the Slim Lipo laser lipolysis (LifeSculpt) and other body sculpturing techniques. In April of this year Dr. Obi was a presenter at the annual American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) in Washington D.C. He has presented, lectured and taught numerous plastic surgeons during the past two years. In addition to advanced laser techniques, the symposium in November includes a work shop on the advanced science of concentrating stem cells from human fat. This will provide the patient with a more effective and long lasting filler from the patient’s own fat. This new science will also be applicable in the area of breast reconstruction following mastectomy.

Dr. Lewis Obi Slim Lipo™ (Life Sculpt™) Presentation to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons National Meeting in D.C. April, 2010

Dr. Lewis Obi was recently notified that his paper on the science and clinical application of Palomarʼs™ Slim Lipo for neck tightening was accepted for presentation at ASAPS national meeting next month. His presentation was rated as one of the best by participants at the meeting. Soon after this meeting Dr. Obi was asked to submit an abstract to The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) for consideration to present his paper in April of 2010. Of particular interest were the results achieved with Slim Lipo treatments of the neck. In many patients surgical neck lifts has been replaced with the non invasive laser lipolysis treatment known as Slim Lipo. This is usually a 30 minute procedure that may be performed with the use of local anesthesia and with a down time of 1 to 2 days.
